What fits in 100 KB

100 KB is enough for a sharp passport-style photo. We start at high JPG quality and reduce only as much as needed.

Our sample photo (1200 × 1500 px, 294 KB) came out at 98.0 KB, 1200 × 1500 px, quality 72%.

For scanned pages

A photographed certificate or ID card works the same way. Text stays readable longer if you crop the page edges first, because every pixel of desk around the page costs bytes.

Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. FormJig is independent. It is not affiliated with SSC, NTA or any government body. Always check your own form’s instructions.

Questions

How close to 100 KB will it be?

As close as the JPG steps allow while staying under. The exact bytes are shown, so you can check before you upload.

Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?

Forms rarely say. We count your minimum at 1,024 bytes per KB and your maximum at 1,000, so the file passes either way of counting. The result shows the exact bytes.

Does the file keep my camera details?

No. The saved file has no EXIF data (camera, date, any location). A photo taken sideways is turned upright first.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The resizing runs inside your browser, on your phone or computer. We tested every page with a network log: no request carried the picture. See the privacy page for the details.
