20 KB is small. We keep the photo readable and show what had to change.

Size your form asks for (KB)
What 20 KB means for a photo
A phone photo is usually many times bigger than 20 KB. To get that small, the pixel size has to come down a lot. We stop lowering the quality at a readable level and reduce pixels instead, so the face stays clear.
Our sample photo (1200 × 1500 px, 294 KB) came out at 19.3 KB, 636 × 796 px, quality 72%.
For a signature
Signature uploads are often 10–20 KB. A signature photographed on paper is cleaner with the signature resizer, which makes the paper white and the ink dark before it sets the size.
Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. FormJig is independent. It is not affiliated with SSC, NTA or any government body. Always check your own form’s instructions.
Questions
Why is my 20 KB photo so small in pixels?
At 20 KB there is not much room. A smaller picture at good quality reads better than a large one full of blocks. The result shows both numbers.
Can I keep a set size, like 3.5 × 4.5 cm?
Yes. Open "My own", enter the cm and DPI with the KB range, and we crop to that shape and fit the KB.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?
Forms rarely say. We count your minimum at 1,024 bytes per KB and your maximum at 1,000, so the file passes either way of counting. The result shows the exact bytes.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The resizing runs inside your browser, on your phone or computer. We tested every page with a network log: no request carried the picture. See the privacy page for the details.
